Don’t Let Christmas be a Waste

Residents in North Somerset are being urged to keep up with their good work and continue recycling over the festive period.

Over the Christmas period about 30% more rubbish is produced. Glass, cans, Christmas trees, cards, wrapping paper and plastic are just some of the items filling up our wheelie bins. This year why not make a special effort to try and minimise the amount of waste produced over the festive period. With a little thought, we can all limit the impact that we have.

For more ideas on how  to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and take a look at our Christmas section on the website

Did you know?
4,500 tonnes of tin foil are thrown out in the UK during the festive season. This is enough to cover 1500 square miles.

Make sure you use your green box to recycle this Christmas. You can recycle…

Ø Paper – all paper including wrapping paper,
Ø Newspapers, catalogues and directories.
Ø Cardboard – such as greetings cards, cereal boxes, gift boxes,
Ø Metal food tins and drinks cans – including sweet and biscuit tins.
Ø Foil – aluminium foil, washed.
Ø Glass bottles and jars – any colour.
Ø Household rigid plastic – ready meal trays and bottles
Ø Waxed food, drinks cartons - such as Tetra Pak, soup and fruit juice cartons
